We have been fortunate to work with several Florida credit unions over the last few years. I started my career in Florida so I always appreciate the opportunity to stay connected and re-visit familiar places. I love Florida and it’s obvious a lot of other people do as well. I often tell candidates that Florida searches are some of the most competitive of any in the country. It makes sense, there are a number of great credit unions in the state with strong leadership teams. In addition, so many people from around the country have a connection to the area. Family members, favorite vacation spots, year-around golf can all be huge draws. Plus the cost of living in most of Florida is reasonable compared to other areas so relocation is appealing. I don’t know if it’s the ultimate destination for everyone in the Northeast but it does seem that way at times. So, if you are looking to transition to a Florida credit union understand your competition can be fierce. As an alternative, if you are hoping to become a CEO and looking for opportunities you might consider moving north. If you’re willing to grab a North Face coat and a shovel your opportunities will be expanded greatly.
